Our target

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines' widely-adopted standard for accessible web content — across the site and the newsletter's web pages.

How we test

Every page on the site runs through an automated accessibility gate (axe-core, via Playwright), checking against the WCAG 2.1 A and AA rule sets plus general best practices. It runs against the exact build that is about to go live, and it has to pass clean — zero unaddressed violations — before a change ships: a page that fails stops the release rather than reaching you. Beyond the automated gate, we've deliberately built in: a skip-to-content link on every page, live regions that announce updates to screen readers (our calculators and interactive games, for example), full keyboard operability for interactive features, visible focus indicators, and support for reduced-motion preferences.

What we haven't done yet

Automated tooling catches a real and useful slice of accessibility issues, but not everything. We have not yet completed a full manual audit with assistive technology (a screen reader, switch control, or voice control) across the whole site. We're honest about that gap rather than implying a broader certification than we've actually earned — if you use assistive technology and hit a barrier, your report is exactly the kind of signal our automated testing can't produce, and we want to hear about it.

Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened — the more specific, the faster we can act. We aim to acknowledge reports within a few business days and to fix confirmed barriers promptly, prioritized by severity and how many readers it affects.
